In a collaborative effort to beautify neighborhoods throughout Council District 7, Councilwoman Rodriguez created the MRod Volunteer Corps. This Volunteer program augments her other ongoing cleanup initiatives (such as Operation Bright Spot, in which crews clean main commercial corridors). MRod Volunteer Corps members consist of local residents and business owners who volunteer for community cleanup and beautification projects. If you are interested in joining our volunteer corps, please register at https://bit.ly/3hYd1d8 and sign up to volunteer in your neighborhood.
Save-the-Date for upcoming MRod Volunteers Corps Cleanup here in Sunland-Tujunga. On November 6, from 9a-11a, MROD will be hosting a large cleanup of problem areas throughout Sunland-Tujunga, including Foothill Blvd and Commerce Avenue, as well as some of our local parks. MROD will be providing a large dumpster, tools, gloves, and trash bags. Team MRod, Operation Bright Spot crews, and the Volunteer Corps members will all be participating, and community members are invited to join us in this rewarding project to help transform public spaces. Refreshments will be provided, and masking will be required to keep participants safe. Please mark your calendars.

Effective 11/15/21: Los Angeles Foodware Accessories On Request Ordinance
LA Sanitation & Environment invites you to a meeting regarding the City of Los Angeles’ newly adopted “Foodware Accessories-on-Request” Ordinance.
Join us virtually on Zoom:
This Ordinance (No. 187030) requires that food and beverage facilities located in the City, and all third party food delivery services operating in the City to only provide disposable food ware accessories* upon customer request. The ordinance becomes effective on November 15th 2021. You can read it online here.

Help Choose the next LAUSD School Superintendent

Collaborate, a public affairs firm in Los Angeles, has been engaged to conduct an ambitious community outreach campaign to hear directly from parents/guardians/caretakers, students, faculty, staff, unions, and stakeholders to ensure the next superintendent reflects the priorities of LA Unified communities.
LAUSD, with input from dozens of stakeholder groups, has developed a 3-4 minute 21 question survey to hear directly from those most impacted by the selection of the next Superintendent. It is completely free, safe and anonymous.
Deadline to participate is September 30, 2021

If COVID-19 has impacted your ability to pay or receive rent and utility payments, the State of California is here to help you. Income-eligible renters and their landlords may receive 100% financial assistance through the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program.
Both renters and landlords are encouraged to apply.
Get help with 100% of your unpaid rent and utilities dating back to April 1, 2020, as well as future rent payments. Utility assistance will be paid directly to the utility provider.
CD7 News: Installation of left-turn phasing signal at Foothill/Tujunga Canyon intersection

In the second phase of this project, two more left-turn phasing signals are now being installed. The first signal, here at the intersection of Foothill and Tujunga Canyon Blvd, was completed last week, and you can see a quick video here of the installation and activation: https://www.facebook.com/MonicaRodriguezCD7/videos/1821028888105074/?__so__=channel_tab&__rv__=all_videos_card. The second location in Mission Hills will be activated shortly.
