Sharing the missed updates from CD7's Eve Sinclair at the August 11 meeting.
TRAFFIC SAFETY:
- The left-turn phasing signal was installed and activated this week at the intersection of Foothill and Tujunga Canyon Blvd - this intersection has seen 66 collisions over the past 10 years and we are looking forward to this engineering improvement making risky left turns safer at this intersection and reducing collision rates there
- Foothill Blvd between Sherman Grove and Apperson has just been chosen by the LADOT as a Vision Zero Priority Corridor, and Foothill/Oro Vista as a Priority Intersection, based on its high KSI rate (collisions that result in fatality or serious injury) - this designation as a Vision Zero Priority Corridor will bring a whole new level of funding and engineering design to this stretch - our office has walked the whole stretch with the DOT engineers this past month, and they tabled at the traffic safety pop-up event this past weekend in order to get feedback from community members about problematic areas and behavior along the road, as well as suggested improvements
INFRASTRUCTURE:
- Last week, we held our first community meeting on the Oro Vista Green Infrastructure Corridor Project, which was approved to receive over $10.5 million dollars in funding through the Measure W/Safe Clean Water Program. This stretch of Oro Vista Avenue between Hillrose and Wyngate floods frequently and has had very poor water quality. This multi-benefit project will improve water quality through the capture of stormwater, while providing flood mitigation and community enhancements through adding sidewalks and the greening of this project area. If you missed this meeting, we will be sharing out the recording of the meeting shortly and you can give input after the fact.
