K. T. Travers
Ms. Travers, and her husband have lived in their 100-year-old historic home in Sunland (which she restored) for 20 years. Their home and native garden appeared in the S-T Historic Home & Garden Tour, and was finalist for the Theodore Payne Garden Tour. A preservation advocate and art historian, Ms. Travers authored the successful Historic-Cultural Monument applications for the Hills of Peace Cemetery and Cross of San Ysidro. She believes in saving our neighborhoods, supports the Foothill Corridor and Scenic Preservation Specific Plans, and champions the native trees, open spaces and clean air that make S-T life so rare; she longs to restore the Sherman Oaks and clubhouse at Sunland Park. KT volunteered at the Chapel of the Hills food bank for eight years and served as docent at Bolton Hall for ten, where she co-curated the Foothill Moderns exhibit and lectured on local artist Margaret Morrish. The Village Poets readings at Bolton Hall celebrated KT’s work with a featured reading.
