In response to more than a dozen deaths due to motor vehicle collisions, hit-and-runs, and pedestrian, bicyclist and motorcyclist deaths in the past few years in Sunland-Tujunga, the Safe Traffic and Transportation (STAT) Committee of the Sunland Tujunga Neighborhood Council recently initiated a “No Speeding” yard sign campaign. ·         Pre covid need for unsheltered is surpassing supply
·         LAHSA is the appointed leader in rehousing within LA County
·         Lack of funding for mental health services
·         $600 million annually to address homelessness
·         66,000 in LA County are without housing
·         Investments in preventions, rehousing, housing creation are key to helping the      
·         LA Family Housing San Fernando Valley is the assigned resource for Sunland-Tujunga
·         Subsidies for back rent is now being offered
·         In some cases, 50% of shelter were lost due to social distancing.
·         Harder to fill beds due to testing required

Council District 7 Mobile Vaccination Clinic - NEW UPDATE!!!

Starting today, March 30, 2021, our CD7 vaccination sites will provide FREE COVID-19 vaccines to individuals aged 50 and older - two days earlier than scheduled. Beginning the week of Tuesday, April 6, 2021, the family members of the 50+ age group will also be able to get vaccinated, as long as they are over 16 years and live with their family member who is age 50 or older.

Application Information

ERAP provides federal and state emergency rental assistance funds to assist low-income renters who have been unable to pay their rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Both landlords and low-income renters living in the City of Los Angeles may apply, regardless of immigration status

 

Beginning today, Tuesday, March 30 through 11:59 pm on April 30, 2021, applications will be available in multiple languages at hcidla.lacity.org. There will also be phone support available in multiple languages, and TTY for persons with hearing or speech impairments. The phone number is (833) 373 -0587. Proposition 19 was approved by California voters during the November 3rd election and makes significant changes to Constitutional provisions regarding property tax rules. Some of these changes have already gone into effect and others will go into effect April 1st.

Healthy Buildings, Healthy Places


In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, this initiative will build upon the Citywide Design Guidelines by reinforcing linkages between health, equity, and planning; and recognizing the role that building design can play in promoting favorable health outcomes, particularly in communities of color that have long suffered from disinvestment. The guide will introduce practical strategies that place people first in the design of buildings and public spaces, through measures such as: adaptable indoor/outdoor common areas that animate shared spaces; placement of staircases to promote physical activity; usable balconies and outdoor rooms to provide areas of respite from stress and overcrowding; improved indoor air and daylighting; and special design considerations for at-risk populations in group living quarters such as nursing homes, which have been hard-hit by COVID-19.
