NC Awareness & Engagement Survey for Angelenos Citywide
The second survey is for both NC members and the public: our Neighborhood Council Awareness &
Engagement Survey, being shared by email to about 1.2 million Angelenos Citywide.

The questions measure awareness of - and participation in - the LA Neighborhood Council system, and also ask

leading LA social research firm Evitarus.

All current Neighborhood Council board members should receive an invite to take this survey to their
authorized email address used for NC business. Invites started going out on October 6th with the subject line,

Comeback Checks Program up to $5,000 for your small business

Posted on 10/26/21

Sunland-Tujunga Community Council

Applications open today - Tuesday, October 26, 2021 - for the first round of the $25M “Comeback Checks” COVID-19 financial recovery program (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnFc05Ta7vI). $5,000 grants are available for 5,000 small businesses located and operated within the City of Los Angeles. Grant recipients will be selected through a weighted lottery process, with final award recommendations based on availability of funds, program guidelines, submission of all required information, and supporting documentation.
This $25 million investment was made possible through American Rescue Plan funds. Awardees can use the grant for employee payroll and benefits, rent, utilities, insurance, and more. Later this winter, the City will provide $12 million in Rental Assistance to further aid in the economic recovery of L.A.’s small businesses.

All applications for this first round are due by November 2, 2021. For more information on requirements and to apply, visit ComeBackChecksLA.com. For additional assistance in applying, contact our local Business Source Center in Pacoima at 818-302-6114 or at [email protected].

To support struggling small businesses, the City of LA recently allocated $50 million in the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) through the recent budget process to implement a series of programs that promote a strong and equitable economic recovery, consistent with ARPA regulations.

The $25M City of Los Angeles “Comeback Checks” program is launching October 26, 2021. Funding will be distributed over several rounds. The application period for Round 1 begins Tuesday and closes Monday November 2, 2021.

BIG:LEAP Pilot Program - Financial Assistance

Posted on 10/26/21

Sunland-Tujunga Community Council

L.A. residents who qualify will be able to apply, beginning tomorrow morning, for a no-strings-attached $1,000 monthly cash deposit for 12 months. Approximately 3,000 Angelenos will be randomly selected to receive the funds and participate in a research study to help measure impact. Please share this important message with anyone who might qualify.

Poverty touches the lives of more than 38 million people living in America today. That's close to 12% of the U.S. population. And it hits even closer to home here in LA. For many Angelenos, the ability to achieve financial security is simply not possible. We face the burdens of the high costs of living, unaffordable housing options, insufficient wages, and the economic difficulties caused by COVID-19. BIG:LEAP is the largest guaranteed basic income pilot in the U.S. to break the cycle of poverty. While no single program can reverse decades of economic and racial inequality that marginalize low-income people of color, BIG:LEAP can point the way towards a more equitable and prosperous future.

To qualify, one must live in the City of Los Angeles, be over the age of 18, have an income at or below the Federal Poverty Level, have at least one dependent child or be pregnant, and have experienced economic and/or medical hardship related to COVID-19. Visit BIGLEAP.lacity.org for more information; the website is now live. Applications will open tomorrow, Friday, at 8a - and will continue until November 7!
