Posted on 01/11/22

The testing site at North Valley City Hall reopened yesterday, and appointments are available now at https://curative.com/. There is also a drive-through testing site at Hansen Dam, that you can also make appointments for at the Curative site. APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR BOTH OF THESE LOCATIONS.
For additional testing locations, you can go to the Department of Public Health at https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/. In addition, vaccines and boosters are widely available, and most locations do not require an appointment. For vaccine locations, click here: http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/vaccine/index.htm.
In addition, the County is offering a new Pick Up Test Kit program, for those who either have symptoms or have been exposed. Our local distribution location is the Boys and Girls Club, 11251 Glenoaks in Pacoima (M-F 9-5): https://covid19.lacounty.gov/la-county-pick-up-testing-kit-program/. Please share out these resources available to combat the spread of COVID. Thank you, and I hope you are all staying safe and well.

CDC Updates & Shortens Recommended Isolation & Quarantine Period for General Population

Posted on 01/01/22

Sunland-Tujunga Community Council

The following is attributable to CDC Director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky:

“The Omicron variant is spreading quickly and has the potential to impact all facets of our society. CDC’s updated recommendations for isolation and quarantine balance what we know about the spread of the virus and the protection provided by vaccination and booster doses. These updates ensure people can safely continue their daily lives. Prevention is our best option: get vaccinated, get boosted, wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial and high community transmission, and take a test before you gather.”

New laws will expand worker protections, voting rights, tackle the state’s housing crisis and more

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today highlighted new bills signed into law in 2021 that will go into effect January 1, 2022, including historic measures to expand worker protections, tackle the state’s housing crisis, redress historical injustices, increase voter access and more.

“In partnership with the Legislature, we’ve advanced hundreds of new bills this year to make meaningful progress on an array of issues that matter deeply to Californians across the state,” said Governor Newsom. “I thank Pro Tem Atkins and Speaker Rendon for their leadership in advancing historic measures to improve the lives of Californians, including new tools to boost our housing supply, improve workplace conditions and build a stronger state. As we head into the new year, I look forward to our continued work to expand opportunity for all Californians.”
