Sunland-Tujunga Update on the left hand turn signals

The improvements that are being funded through the earmark grant, which include the left turn phasing signal at Foothill/Mt Gleason, will be installed by a contractor as part of a large, district-wide series of improvements and still need to go through a 6-mo bidding process (anticipated for Sept 2020, contract to be awarded by April 2021), following the design phase of all of these improvements, which is currently underway. The design phase is expected to be completed as of July 2020. Following the award of the contract, installation of these various projects will begin. We will, of course, keep you posted as the timeline progresses.
 

Separately, the left turn phasing signal at Foothill/Oro Vista is being funded through the DOT's Vision Zero program and will be installed independently from the earmark grant projects. As of my last update with Vision Zero, they confirmed that this signal was in the design phase as well, and that, depending on how long design, packaging and bid and award takes, the estimate is late 2020 or early 2021. Our office is in the process of scheduling our next regular meeting with Vision Zero and I will keep the STNC updated if there have been any changes to this estimate. Thank you, and take care.
