Adam Schiff held a panel discussion on the Rim of the Valley Corridor Special Resource Study at Descanso Gardens on Monday April, 27, 2015. Many of our STNC board members and local activists were present and vocal. Questions were asked by STNC members Pat Kramer, Dana Stangel, Nina Royal and local activists Mary Benson, Danielle Eubanks and Liliana Sanchez. Watch the entire meeting here: https://vimeo.com/126386219. The executive summary newsletter, full draft report, and link to an online public comment system are available on the study website: nps.gov/pwro/rimofthevalley/. Please submit comments ASAP to: [email protected]
Best Choice for our community and the wildlife that lives here is Alternative D: Regional Rim of the Valley Boundary Adjustment and Cooperative Conservation Areas, a SMMNRA boundary adjustment (approximately 313,000 acre addition) with an emphasis on protecting regional wildlife corridors, would add most areas within Rim of the Valley Corridor (excluding U.S. Forest Service managed areas) to SMMNRA. Cooperative conservation approaches would also be recommended for key habitat linkages between the Rim of the Valley Corridor study area and the Los Padres and Angeles national forests.
