HIGH SPEED RAIL

2015-04-14 10:31:00

The California High Speed Rail Authority is hosting a series of Community Open House Meetings.  These meetings last three hours and are being held at nine different locations.  In addition two webinars will be held on May 28 (in Spanish) and June 2 (in English).  To participate in the live broadcast, go to: stream.tv/chanel/chsra

The first Open House meeting was held in Pacoima on Saturday, May 16.  Much of the information presented is similar to the Community Working Group meetings held this past month and includes all the latest East Corridor Routes and SR14 Route.

Plan to arrive when the event starts.  Plan to listen to the presentations which start one hour after the noticed start time.  Plan to meet one on one with the consultants, ask questions and submit written comments.

Foothill Communities will be held Saturday, May 30 at Verdugo Hills High School.  Note:  this is the same day as the American Cancer Society Relay for Life which will also be held at Verdugo Hills High School.

These Open House meetings are being held in advance of the Tuesday, June 9 meeting with the CAHSR board (location TBA).

=================================================================================
The California High Speed Rail Authority held a Community Working Group meeting for the Foothills.  The room was full to capacity to hear the latest updates from the consultants who are working on the Palmdale to Burbank Airport route proposals.   Please stay informed by visiting the website links listed below where you can see copies of their presentations and photos.

The latest is that the most eastern route and closest to the STNC boundary has been moved to travel under the Angeles National Golf Course then through Sunland, Shadow Hills to Burbank.  In other words, the most eastern route is closer to the Sunland-Tujunga community.

Why does the CA HSR continue to explore these routes with so many studies that will be needed to prove that tunelling through the Angeles National Forest is the most cost efficient, easiest to route?
