57 new drought-tolerant trees along Foothill Blvd. between Marcus Ave. and Lowell Ave have been placed. These new trees will help create a more sustainable and vibrant community by providing shade, reducing energy needs, contributing to cleaner air, and beautifying our main corridor.
Over the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed the Los Angeles Conservation Corps (LACC) create brand new tree wells by cutting concrete in 56 different locations along this stretch to make room for these newly planted trees. The LACC finished planting all of the new trees this month, and Streets LA will water the trees for the first three years, as they become established.
If you are interested in personally supporting these efforts to green our communities and are willing to water an additional tree in front of your residence, business, school, or apartment building as well, please see the attached flyer to get a free street tree/s.
Thank you to Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, Streets LA and the LA Conservation Corps for making this all possible.
