Finn Community Garden Event

Hi, everyone! Next Saturday, Finn Community Garden will host its first-ever community event!

Lisa Novick, outreach director of the Theodore Payne Foundation, will be giving a talk at the Sunland-Tujunga Library at 10am, January 28, on the importance of planting native plants, in order to sustain our local food web. Tree People will also have a representative there and the STNC Sustainability/Region 1 Rep, Pat Kramer, will have some information on sustainability practices like composting, rainbarrels, and grey water systems. After the talk, we'll be heading into the garden to have a planting demonstration and share some refreshments. Then, we will work in teams to plant edible native plants in our own community garden - including Catalina cherry trees, golden currants, and native grapes! Plus, Theodore Payne is having its huge sale next weekend, so it's a great time to head over afterwards and buy a couple of native plants of your own.

Please plan to attend this event next weekend, and share this flyer far and wide! It will be a great way to get the word out how crucial native plants are to our local environment, how to use less water irrigating plants, and also to let people experience the fun and beauty of our community garden and to see how much it has changed this past year.
