Los Angeles Department of Building & Safety Launches New App

Posted on 10/18/15

From Councilmember Mitch Englander's office
This week, Mayor Eric Garcetti and the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) launched new mobile app, LADBS Go, which offers customers easy access to the department’s most-requested services from their smartphones.
The frequently-requested services accessible through LADBS Go include requesting inspections, accessing permit information, reporting code violations and locating a Development Services Center (DSC). LADBS Go also provides features available exclusively on the app, including access to real-time DSC counter wait times. This feature saves customers time and money by helping them avoid long lines during busy hours. LADBS Go also takes advantage of mobile device capabilities, including the ability to scan permit barcodes and save data to a device. The pre-programmed DSC locator directs customers to any DSC through their device’s GPS.
The intuitive interface of LADBS Go will save time and money on customer projects, especially with inspection requests. LADBS receives an average of 2,500 inspection requests daily. LADBS Go uses your smartphone’s scanning feature to simplify the inspection request process; the app’s auto-save feature makes it easier to request a follow-up inspection.
Mobile devices currently represent nearly 20% of all methods used to request LADBS services. The department expects LADBS Go to increase mobile device access to more than 25% over the next 12 months.
LADBS Go is available for both iOS® and Android™ devices and is free to download from the App Store and on Google Play™.
