DANGER OF FOXTAILS; NEW GENERAL MANAGER FOR LAAS; PETITION FOR VOLUNTEERS
Hello Everyone, I hope you are doing well.
| 1. | Please see this article about the danger of foxtail plants to dogs and cats: https://citywatchla.com/index.php/cw/important-reads/26702-pet-owners-watch-out-for-harmful-foxtail-plants This year looks to be a very bad year for foxtails, likely because of all the rain. Foxtails can cause serious injury and even death, so please watch out for your dogs and cats. |
| 2. | As you may know, Mayor Karen Bass is looking for a new General Manager for the Los Angeles City Animal Services Department. I know two of the people who are applying for the position, Judie Mancuso and Paul Darrigo. Judie is the Founder/CEO/President of Social Compassion in Legislation (SCIL). A petition is circulating endorsing her for the position, which can be found here: https://www.change.org/p/urge-mayor-bass-to-appoint-judie-mancuso-as-gm-to-fix-our-broken-laas-shelter-system Paul is the Co-Founder and President of CHULA, Citizens for a Humane Los Angeles: https://www.facebook.com/groups/773416409436730/ . Paul is calling for a public debate/forum to be held for all applicants for the General Manager position, so they can discuss their plans for improving the Animal Services Department. |
| 3. | The petition calling for an investigation of the Volunteer Program of the Los Angeles Animal Services Department has gotten more than 4,000 signatures and hundreds of comments from signatories.
