Over the weekend of August 27th, community volunteers watered 149 trees along Foothill Boulevard from the 210 off ramp by Ralphs to Mt. Gleason Ave. Organizing this event was Pat Kramer, STNC’s Safe Traffic & Transportation Committee chairperson, and Stephanie Mines, board member of the Sunland-Tujunga Chamber of Commerce. Pat also brought in members of the Crescenta Valley Group of the Sierra Club. All told, about 25 volunteers, from the age of 14 to the age of 83, watered every single tree on both sides of Foothill Boulevard in Sunland.

A total of six cases have been identified, most of whom were hospitalized for their illness in late July and early August. The cases reside in the Antelope Valley, San Fernando Valley, and San Gabriel Valley and all are recovering.
