Over the weekend of August 27th, community volunteers watered 149 trees along Foothill Boulevard from the 210 off ramp by Ralphs to Mt. Gleason Ave. Organizing this event was Pat Kramer, STNC’s Safe Traffic & Transportation Committee chairperson, and Stephanie Mines, board member of the Sunland-Tujunga Chamber of Commerce. Pat also brought in members of the Crescenta Valley Group of the Sierra Club. All told, about 25 volunteers, from the age of 14 to the age of 83, watered every single tree on both sides of Foothill Boulevard in Sunland.

LOS ANGELES-- The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) has confirmed the first cases of human West Nile virus (WNV) infection in Los Angeles County for the 2022 season (excluding Long Beach and Pasadena as cases identified in those cities are reported by their local health departments). A total of six cases have been identified, most of whom were hospitalized for their illness in late July and early August. The cases reside in the Antelope Valley, San Fernando Valley, and San Gabriel Valley and all are recovering.

The City's Municipal Lobbying Ordinance requires lobbying entities who deliver or send a written communication to Neighborhood Councils on behalf of a client to include a disclaimer on the communication. This applies to all written communications including, but not limited to, letters, faxes, electronic messages, and flyers.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.

CERT TRAINING starts Sept. 1, 2022 - 6-8:30 PM and ends Oct. 13, 2022, 6-8:30 PM
Will be held at Heart of the Canyon Church, 8666 Foothill Place, Lake View Terrace -- just past the Angeles National Golf Club.
