-- article regarding pruning of Oak trees

Last  month, Buzz contributor Emina Darakjy introduced Buzz readers to the Cork Oak tree. Her story prompted Buzz reader K. Mulligan to ask when an oak tree should be trimmed, if at all.  In 2011, the Ridgewood Wilton neighborhood planted a California Live Oak in the traffic island at the corner of Wilton Place/Wilton Drive/Second Street. The tree has been nicely maintained by the neighborhood, but was never pruned. Her question — “how to do you know if an oak should be pruned at some point?”

We took some photos of the Coastal Live Oak and sent them to Emina. Below is her answer, lightly edited. Please feel free to email at [email protected] us if you have any tree questions for Emina!

Lloyd also served on the on the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council’s Land Use Committee, also known as the Design Advisory Committee and a supporting member of many local organizations: Friends of McGroarty, Friends of the Library, poetry groups, and the Coordinating Council. Lloyd was the  “go to person” for anything anyone wants do or needs to know about Sunland-Tujunga.

OUTREACH  VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
 
This Saturday November 12, 2022 from 9-4pm is the American Heroes Air Show at Hansen Dam (flyer attached).
Battalion 12 will have a booth there .  
If interested in volunteering for anytime between 8am (set-up) and 4:30pm let me know. Would love to have CERT members spread the word and pass out CERT information.
